KEM will be coming to Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair on Thursday, July 17th, as a part of a one night show in Jericho (right outside of Westbury), New York. KEM, who’s real name is Kim Lamont Owers, is a singer and Soul songwriter from Nashville Tennessee. The beginning of his career was completely financed by him as he was coming up in the late 90s - maxing out his credit cards and performing in wedding bands along the way. And it worked out well - he eventually signed to Motown Records and sold 500,000 copies of his first album, Kemistry, which features the massively popular hit single Love Calls. His success continued, going platinum on his second album (appropriately named Album II) and winning multiple #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 along the way. Oh yeah - and he’s won three Grammys in R&B, too.
Now, five albums later and with multiple hits and collaborations across the industry, KEM is proving to us that he does what he wants - I mean, before his show at Flagstar he'll be doing two shows in South Africa, and he took a six year hiatus between his fourth and fifth album. He has collaborated with the likes of Toni Braxton, Patti LaBelle, Ron Isley, Rick Ross, and Stevie Wonder.
Flagstar at Westbury holds about 3,000 people comfortably in the venue, so you know this show is going to be a show that's up close and personal with KEM. Speaking on his career and his life in his memoir, and reminiscing on his past with drugs and alcohol at the age of twenty-three, KEM says “I’ve gone from being a painfully shy kid bent on self-destruction to someone who performs original songs in front of an arena overflowing with appreciative fans,”.“It’s all come full circle,”.
Now, a superstar and legend of the R&B scene, KEM is the guy you never count out, and the concert you never want to miss. Tickets are on sale NOW and like we said, these are going to go fast. Make sure to grab you and your boo a ticket today, and we’ll see you at the Music Fair in July!
