Alan Parsons quietly snuck into the music industry as an assistant engineer on The Beatles’ albums “Abbey Road” and “Let It Be”, as well as Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. Together with songwriter and producer Eric Woolfson, they co-founded the Alan Parsons Project and released their debut album, “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination” in 1976, a concept album based upon the works of Edgar Allan Poe that reached the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart. The single “The Raven” became the first rock song to utilize a vocorder. All in all, The Alan Parsons Project had eight Top 40 records and produced a string of eight gold and platinum albums.

Initially, the Alan Parsons Project was designed as a platform for a revolving collection of vocalists and session musicians. The goal was to interpret and perform Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson’s conceptually linked, lushly arranged, and orchestrated music. In 1993, this platform became known as the Alan Parsons Live Project, and they have performed under this name ever since.
